This page records my completion of Hack The Box Pro Labs: Zephyr, issued by Hack The Box.

Why I took it

I worked through this Pro Lab to test how well I could hold a disciplined approach together across a broad, loosely guided environment. I wanted to see whether the habits I had been practising would hold up when the scope was large and I had to set my own direction.

What it developed

The experience reinforced a consistent method: reduce an unfamiliar situation into parts I can reason about, record what I observe, and avoid treating an assumption as a finding. It also built patience and a better sense of prioritisation — knowing that chasing everything at once is rarely the right move.

It gave me a wider view of how different security concerns overlap, which helps me think about both attack and defence with more context.

Reflection

Looking back, the value was in the routine rather than in any single moment. Maintaining clear notes and honest reasoning over a long stretch was the real challenge, and the parts that went slowly taught me the most. I am more comfortable with uncertainty than I was, but I also see clearly how much depth there is still to build.
